Spring Festival

Hello all! This past weekend I worked a booth at an elementary spring festival and had a blast! This was my second year working at this festival and it was so much fun! So many lovely people stopped by my booth, complimented my work, and had henna done. I didn't have much time to snap pictures of my work so below are some pictures of the art I did on myself to prepare for the festival ahead of time.

Henna used to advertise the festival on social media

For the past year I've slowly bought decorations for my booth including: sarees, decorated plates and elephant and buddha figurines to make it much homier and it worked :) Unfortunately, I didn't get to take a picture of my tent all done up because the event organizer, who lent me the tent, started tearing down the event about 10 minutes before the scheduled ending so I had to take everything down before I had a minute to snap a picture of it :/ Other than that it was a wonderful event and I had a couple of people interested in booking me for parties so I'm excited and interested to see if they follow through with contacting me.

My henna the day of the festival

My next post will feature some of the decorations that were featured at the event as well as where I got them and how much they cost. Have a great week!

Spring Festival

Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to do henna at the spring festival for Hancock Elementary and I had so much fun! I got so many compliments on my work and I had lots of people picking up my business cards asking about me doing future events!!! Interestingly I was asked if I was in Art a couple of times. The look on people's faces when I told them no and that my major is in Computer Information Systems was amusing, I like surprising people like that. :) Unfortunately I wasn't able to take pictures of my work since my booth was so busy that I had to get to the next person as soon as I finished the previous but I do have some pictures of the henna I applied on myself the night before.

Family Fun

Hello all! So this past Easter I joined up with family at my aunt's house and they've been asking for henna for a while so I took a cone with me. We had a bunch of fun hiding and later cracking confetti eggs on each other and I'm so happy it was such a great time. Here some pics of the fun below, enjoy!

Anissa:
I had applied henna on her a few days prior when we were getting our nails done and she asked if I could redo it on one part so that it'd be a little darker when she got back to school.

Easter Fun

I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday and for those in school like myself, good luck on finals! Time to study, study, study! Have a wonderful week all!

My Journey With Henna

Hi everyone! So obviously my new years resolution of posting regularly is no longer an option.. I definitely underestimated the power life and college have to keep me busy - not enough to stop me from being an artist of course, but it has definitely kept me from posting what I've been working on. I don't know about you guys but I definitely feel that I have improved exponentially in regards to my skill with henna, and I feel like it really shows in the pictures of my latest work.

Henna on myself:

Noor:
This is a henna design I applied on one of my next door neighbors, Noor. She was very pleased with how it came out and her family was very impressed. Hopefully they will come to me for future applications.

Ariel:
And finally, here is a henna tattoo I applied Saturday night on my friend. I've never tried anything outside of traditional henna but she wanted a mermaid so, we looked up a picture from Pinterest and after a quick sketch on paper, got to it! It took a while, what with all the detail and precision, but I love a challenge and we're super happy with how it came out!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!

What I've Worked On

Hey everyone! I currently have a post in the works that is going to talk about my experience with finding a henna powder to work with and some tips for those that are interested in experimenting with henna. I recently ordered a packet of Jamila henna powder which is a favorite of many henna artists and finally got it in the mail this past Saturday. So super excited me of course does some quick research on Youtube about how to mix it, gathered my ingredients and got to mixing! Another post on that as well later. Until then, here is some of the henna that I've applied over the past couple of weeks.

A henna strip I did her chest for her 40th birthday.

Myself:
I eventually went over and tweaked it a bit a couple of days later and love how it came out!

Thanks for taking the time to look through - have a wonderful day!
